About Us
Some people find music. Filip built his way into it — literally.
He spent years as a research chemist, earned a PhD in Stockholm, and collaborated with scientists across the world. Then, about a decade ago, he picked up a guitar and didn't put it down.
Today he writes, records, and produces original music from his studio in Cellardyke, Scotland — Blues, Bluegrass, Rock, and Americana with a sound that's hard to pin down and easy to recognise. He releases one new track a month, each one made entirely on his own terms.
When he's not recording, he's building the instruments he plays. Custom pickups, chosen tonewoods, guitars shaped by hand from scratch. It's the same instinct that drove the science — understand the thing deeply enough, and you can make it do something new.
He also teaches beginner guitar online, drawing on 30 years of teaching across disciplines and a genuine belief that anyone can learn if you approach it the right way.
This is Solberg Studio. Unconventional by design.

Our Story
I started my guitar journey like many others, as a teenager back in the 70's wanting to be like Eric Clapton, Hendrix or Jeff beck until I realized that it ain't gonna happen if you don't study.
So for 3 years I studies classical guitar. Apart from learning the classics this also taught me something very important a 'work ethic'. You don't get anywhere if you don't practice. I then started my professional career studying Chemistry in Stockholm, Sweden, where I earned my PhD and worked as a research chemist, collaborating with brilliant minds across the globe. Teaching, lecturing and running research projects gave me insights to the difficulties people have in learning. This is not subject dependent in my opinion. My passion for music took a backseat for many years, but after rediscovering it decade ago, I've dedicated myself to honing my songwriting, recording, and guitar skills. With an eclectic taste in genres like Blues, bluegrass, rock, and Americana, I believe that true musicianship goes beyond just playing an instrument—it's about creating and sharing your unique voice. To achieve this I also build my own guitars with tailor made pick up and woods to create distinctive tones and sounds.
